1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of FILM BUDDY AI, a careers-support tool operated by Film Buddy Ltd.
By accessing this service, you agree to use it responsibly, lawfully and in accordance with this document.
FILM BUDDY AI provides general, non-prescriptive careers information for the UK film, television and screen industries. It does not provide personal, legal, financial, medical, HR, creative or wellbeing advice.
Film Buddy Ltd maintains full editorial control of all verified content and conducts human oversight of anonymised chats to ensure accuracy, safety and alignment with UK education and industry standards.

2. Eligibility
The service is designed for users aged 18 and over.
Users aged 16–17 may access Film Buddy AI only with explicit consent and supervision from a parent, guardian or their registered educational institution.
Film Buddy AI will not answer personal, sensitive or wellbeing-related questions from under-18 users.
Repeated attempts to input personal, identifying or sensitive information may result in the chat being ended, with the user signposted to their college or institution’s safeguarding team.
3. Purpose of the Service
FILM BUDDY AI provides:
• General information on film and TV roles
• Industry pathways and entry routes
• Verified work-experience information
• CV refinement (not full CV creation)
• Employability skills and professional behaviour guidance
• Networking and industry understanding
FILM BUDDY AI complements — it does not replace — qualified educators or careers teams.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree:
• Not to request or submit personal, sensitive, medical, financial or employment-related information
• Not to use the service for emergency, safeguarding, wellbeing or mental-health support
• Not to seek HR, legal, tax, medical or financial decisions
• Not to input unlawful, offensive or harmful content
• Not to attempt to extract model behaviour, system information or internal processes
Any misuse may result in withdrawal of access.
5. Limitations of Advice
FILM BUDDY AI does not provide:
• Legal, tax or financial advice
• Medical, mental-health or wellbeing guidance
• HR, bullying, workplace dispute or employment-decision advice
• Creative scripts, treatments, ideas or speculative industry information
• Personal career instructions (e.g., whether to quit a job, confront someone or take an action.
It offers general careers guidance only, based strictly on Film Buddy’s verified knowledge base and trusted UK public resources.

6. Intellectual Property
All FILM BUDDY AI content, including written materials, industry guidance, graphics and uploaded resources, is owned by Film Buddy Ltd or its licensed contributors.
You may not copy, redistribute or publish content without written permission.
7. Data Protection, Retention & International Transfer.
FILM BUDDY AI operates under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Film Buddy collects only the minimum information required for membership administration (name, email, institution).
No sensitive, financial or biometric data is collected.
Chat Data
• Chats are anonymised automatically
• Retained for up to 30 days for safeguarding, compliance and quality assurance
• Permanently deleted after 30 days
• Never used for AI model training
• Never linked to your personal identity
International Transfers
Where technical data is processed outside the UK (e.g., on Google Cloud infrastructure), Film Buddy Ltd relies on:
• The UK–US Data Bridge, and
• The International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA)
These frameworks ensure data receives protections equivalent to UK GDPR.

8. Third-Party Providers
FILM BUDDY AI uses the following GDPR-compliant processors:
• Squarespace – website hosting
• MemberSpace – membership and authentication
• Chatbase/Google Cloud – chatbot delivery infrastructure
Each operates under a Data Processing Agreement and may not use FILM BUDDY AI data for their own purposes.
9. Human Oversight
Film Buddy Ltd uses human review of anonymised chat transcripts to:
• Ensure accuracy and tone
• Maintain safeguarding standards
• Audit compliance with UK GDPR, ScreenSkills and BFI ethical frameworks
All oversight is non-identifiable and conducted within a secure environment.
10. Liability
Film Buddy Ltd is not responsible for:
• Actions taken on the basis of FILM BUDDY AI responses
• Decisions made using AI-generated output
• Third-party links, organisations or schemes
• Technical interruptions, errors or downtime
Users remain responsible for independently verifying important information through official channels.
11. Cookies
The site uses:
• Essential cookies (always active)
• Optional analytics cookies (activated only with explicit consent)
No advertising, profiling or behavioural tracking is used.
Users may change cookie preferences at any time.
12. User Rights
